About Lynn Purse Composer, Performer, Photographer |
As an Assistant Professor of Music Technology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA, I teach a variety of courses in computer applications in music, electronic performance techniques and composition. In my own artistic life, I specialize in composing and arranging for electronic instruments, but have expanded my writing in the past few years to include pieces for orchestra, choir, wind symphony, and chamber groups. I also write and arrange for the jazz guitar quartet Duquesne University's Catch 22. Many of my keyboard ensemble arrangements have been published through Stephens Music and Ogilvy Music. As a performer, I've specialized in synth keyboards, voice, and wind controller - my latest interest has been composing pieces to perform with sequencing and looping software and using pocket sized electronic devices to control performance parameters. I have performed on keyboards and voice with minimalist composer David Borden's Mother Mallard ensemble as well as the electronic duo Aergo. I am currently the artistic director and composer for Una Via, a small chamber electronic ensemble. E-mail:purse@duq.edu |
