Gardening in Harmony with Nature

Twenty-four years ago, I was digging the first bed of my new garden when a butterfly landed on my flowered shirt, looking for something to eat. I made a solemn promise that I would create a garden for it to live in and thrive. I documented the process of creating a habitat for all creatures using video, photography, and blogging to capture and share the beauty and diversity of life in the garden. Then I began to teach others how to create their own personal garden sanctuaries.

I create award winning garden videos, I develop and teach classes on garden design and videography for a variety of organizations, including Phipps Conservatory and GardenComm, I make garden presentations online and throughout the U.S., and I publish a blog called Composer in the Garden. Be sure to check out my award winning garden videos below!

  • I just wanted to thank you again for your creative insights and inspiration. I often think of the concepts from that class. And the homework assignment of finding and photographing a problem area has continued to bring me delight . . . the simple act of bringing the camera to my eyes, and looking through the frame brought so much clarity. . . so grateful for your course and your insights.

  • Lynn Purse is a terrific videographer and spoke to GardenComm recently on how to create YouTube videos and take them to the "next level." She is an excellent educator and broke down the steps/process well for our attendees. We received a number of compliments from those who took the course and were inspired to improve their video skills.

Kathy Jentz, Co-chair of the GardenComm Education Committee

  • Lynn’s tip correlating travel videos/channels with gardening channels was gold! Gardening channels are dynamic. Many YT “how-to create a YT channel” are talking head episodes and IMO less helpful. Thank you Lynn!
